The 2009 InStep Business Plan competition generated innovative ideas for new product and service offerings. Eleven teams of interns from global colleges collaborated with Infoscions to present business ideas for the company.
The Smart Energy team won the competition for its solution to monitor and optimize energy in commercial buildings. The Smart Energy team included Juliana Glassman - MBA, SDA Bocconi, intern, Sustainability; Elias Goraieb - MBA, Harvard Business School, intern, Corporate Planning; Chen Shao, University of Toronto, intern, Product Engineering; Kevin Kircher - Ph.D., Cornell University, intern, Software Engineering and Technology Labs (SETLabs) and Saurav Chandra - Senior Technical Architect, Product Engineering.
Mon-o-phony and Salaam were tied at third place. The Mon-o-phony team developed a mobile payment gateway for store-based transactions. The Salaam team made a presentation on integrating IT services in new cities of the Middle East and North Africa.
The panel of judges included N.S. Raghavan, entrepreneur and former Co-Founder and Joint Managing Director of Infosys; Subu Goparaju, Vice President and Head of SETLabs, Infosys; Sanjay Purohit, Vice President and Head of Corporate Planning and Assurance, Infosys and Dr. Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Professor of Corporate Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
