"Why InStep? Where do I start? When I first heard about Infosys, I was skeptical as I did not know about the opportunities at a technology company, given my business background. Once I had information about the internship program, I was confident of a high-class internship. The program assigns project work relevant to the company's business, and offers you the independence to work while simultaneously mentoring interns.
"During my internship, I was treated like an employee. I was assigned a project that focused on the German and Swiss Insurance sector. A competitor analysis was the starting point for a new business plan, making my work crucial for the company.
"Working by objectives is a key focus at Infosys. There is clarity about what to do and where the project is heading. As the project was related to foreign markets, I worked within Infosys' Global Delivery Model. With most of the key persons associated with the project located abroad, I worked independently, organizing meetings with people globally. I was always pleasantly surprised by how helpful everyone was. They actually treated me as one among them. Their positive attitude made me work harder to achieve my project goal.
"During my internship, I received the best support possible. My project mentor was based in Germany and he assisted me in all project-related issues. My student mentor was based in the same campus where I did my internship. My assigned buddy assisted me in adapting easily to the new work culture and it was a fulfilling experience. I was also lucky to travel with my buddy over weekends and learn more about India.
"My InStep experience could not be better. I am now in my fourth week of my eight-week internship. I am amazed to see how Infosys fulfills its promises to interns just as it does to clients. It is a mutually beneficial relationship. The company provides everything that an expat intern can possibly wish for. On their part, interns bring new ideas to the company. I always felt accepted as an Infosys team member. At Infosys, everybody, from the intern to the top executive, works towards one goal: Excellence!"
