The Evolution of Hi-Tech into Clean Tech
The Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) Directive and the Restriction on Hazardous Substances (ROHS) Directive compel global Electronics and High Technology companies to adopt a proactive approach for environment compliance, according to Infosys' experts. They blog on formulating a long-term strategy to implement clean technologies and develop a green supply chain. They propose:
- Integrating eco-design and green procurement into organizational processes
- Developing technical infrastructure and support systems for eco-design, recycling, e-waste collection, treatment and disposal, etc.
- Modifying existing ERPs and enterprise applications within the organization and across supply chain partners
- Addressing the IT and business process requirements for environmental regulatory compliance and banned substances-free manufacturing
- Developing reverse logistics processes for collection of products at end-of-life and disposal/recycling to meet WEEE criteria
