Sterling Commerce has a rich history in B2B innovation. A pioneer of electronic data interchange (EDI) and secure file transfer technology, it has provided business process automation solutions to FORTUNE® 500 companies and the world’s largest banks for 30 years. Formerly a division of Sterling Software, Sterling Commerce became an independent corporation in March 1996. The company quickly grew to become one of the world's largest independent providers of multi-enterprise collaboration solutions. SBC Communications acquired Sterling Commerce in March 2000. Sterling acquired Yantra Corporation, a leading SOA-based WMS and OMS provider in 2005. With the merger of AT&T Corp. and SBC Communications Inc. in November 2005, Sterling Commerce became a subsidiary of AT&T Inc., the largest telecommunications company in the United States and one of the largest in the world.
