Wharton Infosys Business Transformation Award (WIBTA)

Jointly instituted by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Infosys Technologies, the Wharton Infosys Business Transformation Award (WIBTA) celebrated excellence and innovation in information technology with industry-wide impact. Between 2001 and 2007, WIBTA recognized nearly 50 enterprises and individuals that transformed their businesses and the society by leveraging information technology.

The jury panel for WIBTA comprised Dr. Harbir Singh, Chair of the Department of Management at Wharton; David Boyles, Former COO of ANZ Banking Group; Esther Dyson, Editor-at-large at CNET Networks; Michael Eskew, Chairman and CEO, UPS; and Sir Paul Judge, Director, Schroder Income Fund.

WIBTA was instituted across four regions - North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific - in two categories:

  • The Enterprise Business Transformation Award: For organizations that made the best use of IT for transformation
  • The Technology Change Agent Award: For individuals who were key drivers in using technological innovation as a tool for transformation

The award was evaluated around criteria like innovative use of technology (ICT), effective company/business-wide implementation, re-defining industry/business models and demonstration of measurable and sustainable results.
