From ICD-9 to ICD-10: Why companies should look beyond EMR vendors

By 2013, the U.S. will migrate from the ICD-9 system to ICD-10, a scheme of classifying diseases that reflects the latest medical advances in disease detection... and treatment. Rajiv Sabharwal, Senior Engagement Manager, Infosys, believes CIOs must look beyond their EMR vendors for the migration as vendors will use the opportunity to sell new modules. Speaking to Healthcare Informatics magazine, Rajiv cautions CIOs against restricting it to the revenue cycle, considering ICD-10 will impact every system.
