Infosys iSmart, an innovative energy management solution: Technology Review (India)
Infosys iSmart (now called the Plug Load Manager), a sensor-based power strip developed by Infosys Labs, was selected as an innovative solution in the 'Grand Challenges Project' of Technology Review (India), the innovation magazine of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The solution detects energy wastage and prompts users to eliminate it.
An intelligent power strip
Infosys iSmart is a power strip that uses intelligence and ambience sensors through a wireless sensor network. Power consumption and data from sensors is transmitted to an application server via wireless or Ethernet. Users can view and regulate energy consumption from a PC or mobile device.
And a green warrior too
Infosys iSmart calculates carbon emission levels and improves energy efficiency, significantly. Infosys Labs piloted the solution at the Infosys campus to minimize our carbon footprint and reduce energy consumption by 10%.
Infosys Labs has also developed InGreen, an energy management solution that helps companies manage consumption of energy through automated data gathering, data mapping, and analytics.
A jury of technologists, researchers, technology promoters, and the editorial team of Technology Review (India) selected innovative solutions from 200 entries for the 'Grand Challenges Project'.
