Topic: Why IMS and DLNA are about to change the concept of TV
Date: April 28, 2008
Time: 10:00-13:00 BST

 

Session description

Television is set to take a big leap in accessibility and viewership. To compete effectively, telcos must go beyond IPTV 1.0 and utilize IMS and DNLA technologies. These standards enable service capabilities for voice, messaging and mobility and interact with consumer devices.

 

The session focuses on what IMS and DNLA can achieve from an end-user service perspective. The workshop includes telco service provider objectives and industry forum initiatives and consumer and telco vendor solution strategies.

 

Ram Kumar, Associate VP, Product Engineering, Infosys, will speak on the subject at a panel discussion.

Topic: Evolution of Service Provider Portfolios in a Service-Oriented Environment

Session description

This session focuses on the strategy to evolve Service Provider portfolios through simplification and innovation. It will dwell on the rationale for simplification and innovation, managing portfolio evolution to ensure value maximization, and creating an agile product development environment through the concept-to-market processes.

Ram Kumar

Ram Kumar, Associate Vice President, Product Engineering, Infosys, is responsible for the growth of worldwide R&D services. He has a track record of executive and operational leadership in building businesses around computing and communication infrastructure products and services. Prior to Infosys, as founder and CEO of WIncNet Corp., Ram focused on enterprise seamless mobility. He specializes in SOA, networking and wireless infrastructure, security, mobility management and protocols. Ram has authored several articles for industry magazines and has spoken widely at industry conferences.

Topic: Making global outsourcing and managed services a reality

Session description

Infosys’ Mukul Gupta, Associate Vice President and Head CME, U.K., is a panel member for the session on “Making global outsourcing and managed services a reality”. This panel will address the key business and technology drivers for outsourcing and managed services and the associated benefits for other communication providers and their customers. It will also address the impact of outsourcing and managed services on legacy operations.

 

Speaker

Mukul Gupta, Associate Vice President and Country Head (U.K.) for Communications, Media and Entertainment practice, Infosys. His 12-year stint at Infosys includes work in telecom and retail sectors in the U.S., APAC, and U.K. markets. Besides this, he has worked in telecom presales and delivery of telecom OSS projects. He was also a founding member of Infosys’ OSS practice.
