Session Description
‘Failure is the stepping stone to success‘ - This adage may be true in our daily life. But while managing projects, we need to get everything right the very first time. To achieve this, Earned Value Management (EVM) is frequently used in many projects.
A proven project management technique, EVM has the unique ability to combine measurements of scope, schedule, and cost in an integrated system. When properly applied, EVM provides an early warning for performance problems, allowing sufficient time for corrective measures.
The availability of off-the-shelf tools has made it easy to implement EVM. Unfortunately, applying a technique and applying it successfully are not the same. Often, the incorrect use of EVM results in unreliable metrics, and information required for taking corrective action is not available.
The session will help you:
- Understand EVM and how to apply it successfully in testing projects
- Identify the common mistakes while implementing EVM
- Know when EVM should not be applied
Speaker profiles
Manisha Saboo has over 15 years of experience in managing large and distributed testing projects. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA). She has presented papers at both national and international conferences, and conducts PMP training and workshops for CSQA.
Kiran Kumar S N has seven years of experience in quality assurance. He has been involved in managing large QA engagements with major institutions in North America. In the last three years, two of his projects have been awarded the ’Best Managed Project‘ award within Infosys. Kiran is a QAI-Certified Test Engineer.
