Event Overview
Marketing and advertising have been transformed with the advent of Social Media. Organizations today face risks, business and legal in nature, as a result of employees’ personal online behavior and the business use of Social Media.
In 2009, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) revised its guidelines regarding the use of testimonials and endorsements in advertising. The revised guidelines represent the most significant changes providing guidance on disclosure obligations for online marketing activities such as blogging, consumer generated media and word-of-mouth marketing.
This seminar discusses best practices to control associated risks and addresses legal implications social media poses for organizations:
- FTC guidelines governing online reviews and endorsements, recent FTC actions with specific focus on agencies' and advertisers' use of online marketing and social media
- Best practices associated with monitoring of activities of talent, spokespersons, affiliate marketers, bloggers, and other vendors by agencies and advertisers
- Employer searches on social networking sites to aid the hiring process
- Use of Social Media by current and former employees
- Recent cases addressing employer monitoring of employee online activities
