The Duke of York meets new Infosys apprentices in London

His Royal Highness The Prince Andrew, Duke of York, KG recently met the five newly appointed apprentices at the Infosys European headquarters in Canary Wharf, London. The apprentices will undergo a structured hands-on training program of up to 18 months in finance, marketing, IT and sales.

His Royal Highness visited the London office after meeting the Infosys CEO and Managing Director S.D. Shibulal at the World Economic Forum in Davos-Klosters in January this year and in May during his visit to the Infosys headquarters in Bangalore as part of the Diamond Jubilee visit.

In May, Infosys had committed to offer an apprenticeship program with the National Apprenticeship Scheme (NAS) in the United Kingdom to over 100 young people in the next five years. It was a deed of commitment to develop and support learners to achieve long-term employability through a combination of training and gainful employment.

B.G. Srinivas, Member of the Board, Head of Europe and Global Head of Financial Services & Insurance, Infosys, said: “We are privileged that The Duke of York took time to hear first-hand how important an apprenticeship will be in helping these young people kick-start their career in business. Each apprentice has a specific development plan and will work alongside experienced staff to acquire job-specific skills.”

His Royal Highness also met the business leaders from Infosys as part of his ongoing commitment to promote initiatives from forward-thinking businesses that give young people the opportunity to develop their skills through apprenticeships and on-the-job training.
