Forbes Asia has chosen Nandan M. Nilekani, the Chief Executive Officer of Infosys Technologies Ltd., as the Businessman of the Year 2006. Heading a company that has consistently been on the Forbes Asia Fabulous 50 list, Nandan has been given this distinction for his unique management of rapid growth alongside rapid change.

Nandan is a founder-member of the software giant that is reshaping businesses worldwide, using a proprietary business model. He says, "Business is being taken away from legacy players and given to us because we are better."

Nandan has been Chief Executive of Infosys since 2002, and the company's net profit has grown more than 30% in each of the last three years. He has promised that Infosys will be a $3 billion company by April 2007.

Forbes calls Infosys work-in-progress because it "is spending $140 million on training this year and has built a $300 million center in Mysore to mold new hires into [the] 'Infoscions' who write software, design airplane components, process mortgage applications and maintain computer systems on behalf of multinational companies."

Infosys has over 66,000 employees from about 35 countries working in 42 centres across the world. Using its low-risk Global Delivery Model (GDM), Infosys helps global and new generation organizations leverage their current IT assets for technology-driven business transformation.
