Chief Financial Officer
V. Balakrishnan was appointed Chief Financial Officer in April 2006. Prior to that, he served as Company Secretary and Senior Vice President – Finance. Balakrishnan joined Infosys in 1991 and has served in various capacities in the Finance department.
Prior to joining Infosys, Balakrishnan was a Senior Accounts Executive with Amco Batteries Limited.
Balakrishnan holds a B.Sc. from the University of Madras. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India.
- Srinath Batni
Member of the Board
Srinath Batni was inducted as a member of the Board of Directors of Infosys in May 2000. He is responsible for Delivery Excellence across the company.
Srinath is also a Director on the Board of Infosys Technologies (China) Co Ltd. and Infosys Australia Pty Ltd.
Srinath joined Infosys in June 1992 as Project Manager and since held several management positions. Before joining Infosys, he worked as a Project Manager - Technical Support for the Indian subsidiary of a leading French company (since 1990). Prior to that, he was responsible for implementing production management and materials management systems at one of India's leading Public Sector Heavy Engineering and Manufacturing companies (since 1980).
Srinath received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Mysore University in 1975 and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1979.
- K. Dinesh
Co-founder and Member of the Board of Infosys Technologies Limited
K. Dinesh is a co-founder and a Member of the Board of Infosys Technologies Limited. He is Head of Quality, Information Systems and the Communication Design Group. He is also the Chairman of Infosys Technologies Australia Pty Ltd., an Infosys subsidiary.
Dinesh’s rich and varied experience in software technology and management ranges from programming and project management to managing software delivery. From 1991 to 1995, he held charge of software development activities for Infosys’ worldwide operations. In this role, he was responsible for the execution, implementation and delivery of software solutions to customers.
Dinesh has also been focused on managing quality at Infosys. During his tenure as Head of Quality, the company’s software quality processes achieved world-class benchmarks, including CMM Level 5 in 1999. From software process excellence, he aimed to bring performance excellence to the entire organization. This involved adopting and implementing the Baldrige Framework and championing cross-functional process improvement using Six Sigma CFPM techniques developed by Motorola University.
As head of Information Systems, Dinesh was instrumental in ensuring the in-house implementation of SAP in a record span of six months. He has championed the cause of technology enabling and automation to help the organization manage explosive growth without affecting service times to internal customers.
Until recently, Dinesh provided direct oversight to the Human Resources function. Under his leadership Infosys became the first company to be certified on PCMM Level 5 Version 2. During this time, Infosys also transitioned into a role based organization, and evolved the foundations of a high performance work ethic. People Management at Infosys has been recognized and commended worldwide.
Dinesh managed Infosys’ efforts in Software Project Management in the US from 1981 to 1988, focusing on the distribution industry for consumer durables and soft goods. His experience includes creating the architecture of DMAP (Distribution Management Application Package), a large package that runs on AS/400 platform.
Born June 6, 1954 at Sagar, Karnataka, Dinesh completed his post-graduation in Mathematics from Bangalore University. He was awarded a doctorate in literature by the Karnataka State Open University in 2006.
Before co-founding Infosys in 1981, he worked with NGEF Ltd., an electrical equipments manufacturer with collaboration from AEG, Germany, and with Patni Computer Systems. He has also worked with India’s Department of Telecommunications (formerly known as the Indian Post and Telegraph department), Bangalore Telecom and UCO Bank.
- S. Gopalakrishnan
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Infosys Technologies
Gopalakrishnan (Kris to his colleagues) is one of the founders of Infosys Technologies Limited. As Chief Executive Officer, he plays a key role in defining the company strategy and using technology and innovation continuously to maintain its leadership in the industry.
On June 22, 2007, Kris took over from Nandan M. Nilekani as the CEO and Managing Director of Infosys Technologies Limited. Kris previously served as Chief Operating Officer (since April 2002), and as the President and Joint Managing Director (since August 2006). His responsibilities included customer services, technology, investments and acquisitions.
Kris' initial responsibilities at Infosys included management of design, development, implementation and support of information systems for clients in the consumer products industry in the U.S. Between 1987 and 1994, he headed the technical operations of KSA/Infosys (a joint venture between Infosys and KSA at Atlanta, U.S.) as Vice President (Technical). In 1994, Kris returned to India and was appointed Deputy Managing Director of the company.
Kris is currently the Chairman of the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM), Kerala, and Vice Chairman of the Board for Information Technology Education Standards (BITES) set up by the Government of Karnataka. Kris is the Vice Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries(CII) Southern Regional Council. He is also a member of ACM, IEEE and IEEE Computer Society.
Kris holds a master's degree in Physics and Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
- N. R. Narayana Murthy
Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor
Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor of Infosys Technologies Limited, a global Information Technology (IT) consulting and software services provider, headquartered at Bangalore, India. He founded Infosys in 1981 along with six other.. software professionals and served as the CEO of Infosys for 21 years before handing over the reins of the company to co-founder, Mr. Nandan M. Nilekani, in March 2002. Under his leadership, Infosys was listed on NASDAQ in 1999. He served as the Executive Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor from 2002 to 2006.
Mr. Murthy articulated, designed and implemented the Global Delivery Model which has become the foundation for the huge success in IT services outsourcing from India. He has led key corporate governance initiatives in India. He is an IT advisor to several Asian countries. Mr. Murthy serves as an independent director on the boards of several global companies including Unilever, NV, Unilever, plc and HSBC Holdings plc. He is the Chairman of the Asia Business Council. He is also a member of the advisory boards and councils of several educational institutions including Wharton, Cornell, INSEAD, Stanford, Tokyo University, SMU - Singapore, IIIT-Bangalore and ESSEC, Paris.
Mr. Murthy is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. The Economist ranked him 8th in the list of the 15 most-admired global leaders in 2005. He was ranked 28th among the world's most-respected business leaders by the Financial Times in 2005. In 2004, The TIME magazine identified him as one of the 10 global leaders who are helping shape the future of technology. In 2006, the TIME magazine voted him as one of the Asian heroes who have brought about revolutionary changes in Asia in the last 60 years. He was featured in BusinessWeek's "The Stars of Asia" for three consecutive years - 1998, 1999 and 2000. He was voted the "World Entrepreneur of the Year" by Ernst and Young in 2003. He was voted India's most powerful CEO for three consecutive years - 2004, 2005 and 2006 - by Economic Times. He was chosen as the "Business Process Innovator" by The Economist in 2007. He received the Ernst Weber Engineering Leadership medal from The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2007 for his pioneering role in the globalization of IT services. He was awarded the "Padma Vibhushan", the second highest civilian award by the Government of India in 2008. The Government of France conferred on him the Officer of the Legion of Honor in 2008.
He obtained B. E. (Electrical) from the University of Mysore in 1967 and M. Tech. (Electrical) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1969. He has been conferred an honorary doctorate degree by several well-known universities in India and abroad.

Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors
Nandan M. Nilekani is the Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Infosys Technologies Limited. From March 2002 to June 22, 2007, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director and has previously held the posts of President and Chief Operating Officer... He is one of the founders of Infosys and has served as a director on the company’s board since its inception in 1981.
In January 2006, Nandan became one of the youngest entrepreneurs to join 20 global leaders on the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) Foundation Board. He is listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine, 2006.
Nandan co-founded India's National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) as well as the Bangalore Chapter of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE).
Nandan was on the Board of Reuters as a non-executive member from January 2007 till the merger of Reuters with Thomson in April 2008. He is the Vice Chairman of The Conference Board, Inc., an international research and business membership organization. He is on the Board of Directors of the Peterson Institute for International Economics and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and serves as the Co-chairman of the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund.
In India, Nandan is a member of the National Knowledge Commission and also part of the National Advisory Group on e-Governance. He is also a member of the review committee of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. He took over as the elected President of NCAER (the premier, independent, applied economics research institute in India) in April 2008.
Nandan has been involved in various initiatives of the central and state governments. He was the Chairman of the Government of India’s IT Task Force for power. Nandan has also served as a member of the subcommittee of the Securities and Exchange Board of India that dealt with issues related to Insider Trading, and as a member of the Reserve Bank of India’s Advisory Group on corporate governance.
Nandan is the recipient of several awards. He was the Forbes Asia "Businessman of the Year" in 2006. He, along with Infosys founder (and currently non-executive chairman) N. R. Narayana Murthy, received Fortune magazine’s ‘Asia’s Businessmen of the Year 2003’ award. He was named among the ‘World’s most respected business leaders’ in 2002 and 2003, according to a global survey by Financial Times and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Nandan was also awarded the Corporate Citizen of the Year award at the Asia Business Leader Awards (2004) organized by CNBC. In 2005, Nandan was awarded the prestigious Joseph Schumpeter prize for innovative services in economy, economic sciences and politics.
In 2006, Nandan was conferred the Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian honors awarded by the Government of India.
Nandan received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India in 1978.
- T. V. Mohandas Pai

Mohandas Pai is Member of the Board and Director-Human Resources, Education and Research and Administration. He joined Infosys in 1994 and has served as a Member of the Board since May 2000. He served as the Chief Financial Officer from 1994 to 2006... In 2006, he voluntarily remitted the office of CFO to lead efforts in the areas of Human Resources and Education and Research.
As the CFO, Mohan played a strategic role in transforming Infosys into one of the world’s most respected and widely known software services companies. He formulated the country’s first publicly articulated financial policy for the company. He played a key role in branding the company among the investor community and enhancing transparency and disclosure levels. The Infosys Annual Report, under his supervision, has won the Best Presented Annual Accounts Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for ten years in succession as well as from the South Asia Federation of Accountants in 2000.
Mohan was an integral part of the Infosys team that enabled the first listing of an India-registered company on NASDAQ and the first sponsored secondary offering of American Depositary Shares by an Indian company. He was voted ’CFO of the Year’ in 2001 by IMA India (formerly EIU India) and American Express. He won the ’Best CFO in India’ award from Finance Asia in 2002, and ’Best Chief Financial Officer in India’' in the Best Managed Companies poll conducted by AsiaMoney in 2004.
Mohan has been active in working with regulators to improve the business ecosystem. He was also a member of the Kelkar Committee, constituted by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India (GoI) for reforming direct taxes, the Non-Resident Taxation Committee, the High Powered Committee on e-Commerce and Taxation. He is currently a member of the SEBI Accounting Standards Sub-committee and the Empowered Committee for setting up the Tax Information Network of the GoI.
He also works with the union and state governments in the fields of education, Information Technology and business. Mohan is also a Trustee of the International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation, the body that oversees the International Accounting Standards Board. He is working with governments and decision-makers across India to improve the quality of education and availability of skilled manpower. He is also involved with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, a project that provides mid-day meals to over 950,000 children across India, which aims to reach out to one million children.
Mohan holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore, and a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from Bangalore University. He is also a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA).
- S. D. Shibulal
Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Board
S.D. Shibulal is a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of Infosys Technologies Limited. He took over from S. Gopalakrishnan as Chief Operating Officer on June 22, 2007. His focus is on increasing competitiveness..., improving customer experience, improving employee engagement and increasing the depth of services.
Prior to June 22, 2007, Shibulal served as Group Head – Worldwide Sales & Customer Delivery, where he was responsible for the performance of practice units in terms of value delivered to customers, business performance, and organizational efficiency. This was complemented by his other responsibilities in fostering innovation, leadership, teamwork and work values within the organization.
In 1981 he started sales operations in the North American region and managed customer relationships for the next ten years, predominantly in the manufacturing and retail sectors.
Between 1991 and 1996 he took a sabbatical with Sun Microsystems where he was responsible for designing and implementing SunPlaza, Sun’s first e-commerce application, supporting online ordering, payments and distribution of software. As Senior Information Resource Manager, he was a consultant to various divisions of Sun Microsystems in the areas of architecture, auditing, implementation and security policies. He was chosen ‘Producer of the Year’ and received the SunIR Academy Award for 1995.
In 1997, on his return to Infosys, Shibulal established and headed the Internet Consultancy Practice and also served as Head of Manufacturing, Distribution and Y2K Business Unit. He took over as Worldwide Head of Customer Delivery in 1999 with the responsibility of creating and managing a scalable delivery organization, which he continues to hold.
Shibulal received a master’s degree in Physics from the University of Kerala and an MS in Computer Science from Boston University.

Rama Bijapurkar is a recognized thought leader on market strategy and consumer issues in India. She heads an independent market strategy consulting practice and works with several global companies and non-profit institutions..., guiding the development of their business-market strategy.
An alumna of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Ms. Bijapurkar is also a visiting professor at her alma mater and serves on its Board of Governors.

- Dr. Omkar Goswami

Dr. Omkar Goswami is the Founder and Chairman of CERG Advisory Private Limited (CERG is the acronym for the Corporate and Economic Research Group).
A professional economist, Dr. Goswami did his Masters in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics in 1978 and his D. Phil (Ph.D) from Oxford in 1982. He taught and researched economics for 18 years at Oxford, Delhi School of Economics, Harvard, Tufts, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Rutgers University and the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi.
In March 1997 he moved away from formal academics to become the Editor of Business India, one of the country's prestigious business magazines. From August 1998 up to March 2004, Dr. Goswami served as the Chief Economist of the Confederation of Indian Industry - India's premier apex industry organization.
Dr. Goswami has served on several government committees. He was the Chairman of the Committee on Industrial Sickness and Corporate Restructuring in 1993, which recommended revamping India's bankruptcy laws and procedures; member of the Working Group on the Companies Act; the CII Committee on Corporate Governance; the Rakesh Mohan Committee on Railway Infrastructure Reform; the Vijay Kelkar Committee on Direct Tax Reforms; the Naresh Chandra Committee on Auditor-Company Relationship; the N.R. Narayana Murthy SEBI Committee on Corporate Governance Reforms, etc.
Dr. Goswami has been a consultant to the World Bank, the IMF, the Asian Development Bank and the OECD.
Other than his regular columns for newspapers and magazines, Dr. Goswami has authored three books and over 70 research papers on economic history, industrial economics, public sector, bankruptcy laws and procedures, economic policy, corporate finance, corporate governance, public finance, tax enforcement and legal reforms.
- Sridar Iyengar

Sridar Iyengar is an independent mentor investor in early stage entrepreneurs and companies. For more than 35 years, he has worked in the UK, US and India with a large number of companies at all stages of growth, globalization, etc., advising them on strategic and other issues.
Mr. Iyengar is the President of Foundation for Democratic Reforms in India, a US-based non-profit organization. He is also an advisor to several venture and private equity funds with respect to India.
He was previously a senior partner with KPMG in the US and UK and served for three years as Chairman and CEO of KPMG's operations in India.
Mr. Iyengar has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree from the University of Calcutta and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Deepak M. Satwalekar has been the Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Standard Life Insurance Co. Ltd. since 2000. Before that, he served as the Managing Director of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) since 1993. He has been a consultant to the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements (HABITAT).
Deepak is a recipient of the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award’ from the Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay. He is on the Advisory Council of IIT-Bombay and has chaired and been a member of several expert groups related to industry, government and the Reserve Bank of India.

Claude Smadja is the President of Smadja & Associates, a strategic advisory firm he founded in 2001.
A graduate of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, Mr. Smadja started his career as a journalist, first in the print media and then in television, covering an extensive range of international economic and political issues and interviewing top political leaders worldwide. In his last journalistic position, he was Director for News and Current Affairs at the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation.
Mr. Smadja joined the World Economic Forum in 1987 as a Director and Member of the Executive Board. He was instrumental in creating World Link, the Forum's magazine for global decision-makers, and initiated the first regional meeting of the World Economic Forum, the East Asia Economic Summit.
From January 1996 to June 2001, he was the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, with overall responsibility on the Davos annual meeting and the Forum's activities in Asia.
Mr. Smadja left this position to found "Smadja & Associates, Strategic Advisory", which works with global corporations and government entities on strategic issues to create "content platforms" - high-profile international conferences, seminars, workshops, briefings and analyses - to help clients navigate and leverage globalization. The firm, with offices in Switzerland and the USA, has clients and partners in North America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
His deep knowledge of global economics, business and politics and his acquaintance with key players in these fields makes Mr. Smadja a frequent invitee at international conferences and private business meetings. He is on the boards of several major corporations, and also serves as a member of the International Board of Overseers of the Illinois Institute of Technology.
- Dr. Marti G. Subrahmanyam

Marti G. Subrahmanyam is the Charles E. Merrill Professor of Finance, Economics and International Business in the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Prof. Subrahmanyam has published numerous articles and books in the areas of corporate finance, capital markets and international finance. He has been a visiting professor at leading academic institutions around the world including, most recently, the University of Melbourne in Australia, LUISS in Italy and Singapore Management University in Singapore.
Prof. Subrahmanyam currently serves on the editorial boards of many academic journals and is the co-editor of the Review of Derivatives Research. He has won many teaching awards including New York University’s Distinguished Teaching Medal.
He has served and continues to serve as a consultant to several corporations, industrial groups, and financial institutions around the world.
Prof. Subrahmanyam serves as an advisor to international and government organizations, including the Securities and Exchange Board of India.
He holds degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras, the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
- David L. Boyles
Independent Director
David L. Boyles built a successful career in senior leadership positions at large multinational corporations including American Express, Bank of America and ANZ Banking Group. He retired from the ANZ and full-time corporate life in December 2003.
He currently operates a boutique consulting practice focused on IT strategy, business alignment, governance and change management. Mr. Boyles is also an Adjunct Professor in the School of Computing of the University of Tasmania. He is the principal author of the book Maximising the Business Value of your Technology Investment (©2005, Infosys and Microsoft).
His most recent full-time corporate position was Chief Operations Officer at ANZ Banking Group where he was responsible for Technology, Payments, Property, Strategic Sourcing and other shared services. Mr. Boyles joined ANZ in 1998 as Chief Information Officer.
Prior to ANZ, Mr. Boyles was Senior Vice President, eCommerce, at American Express. In this role, he was responsible for state-of-the-art online services and emerging technologies. Mr. Boyles' early roles with AMEXCO included Senior Vice President, Global Systems and Operations, Travellers Cheque Group. Other leadership positions include Downey Financial (Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer) and Bank of America (Senior Vice President, Consumer Markets).
Mr. Boyles earned an MBA from Washington State University and an MA and BA (summa cum laude) in Psychology from UNC, Greeley.
- Prof. Jeffrey Sean Lehman

Jeffrey Sean Lehman, Professor of Law and Former President at Cornell University, is currently a Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. and the President of the Joint Center for China-U.S... Law & Policy Studies at Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University.
President Lehman earned an AB in mathematics from Cornell University, and MPP and JD degrees from the University of Michigan, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Michigan Law Review. He served as law clerk to Chief Judge Frank M. Coffin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and to Associate Justice John Paul Stevens of the U.S. Supreme Court, and he practiced tax law in Washington, D.C., with the firm of Caplin & Drysdale.
President Lehman taught law and public policy at the University of Michigan, specializing in the law and policy of the American welfare state, before becoming dean of the law school at the age of 37. Under his stewardship, the school launched successful initiatives in legal writing, public service, clinical education, and transnational law. He also served as a public spokesperson in defense of the law school's moderate approach to affirmative action in admissions, an approach that was vindicated by the Supreme Court's decision in Grutter v. Bollinger. In recognition of his work on the Grutter case, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. honored President Lehman with its National Equal Justice Award. During his last two years as dean, President Lehman also served as President of the American Law Deans Association.
During his tenure as the eleventh president of Cornell University, President Lehman drew the university community together to expand its role as a transnational institution and to marshal its resources in response to some of the most significant practical challenges facing humanity in the 21st century: life in the age of the genome, wisdom in the age of digital information, and sustainability in the age of development. Under his leadership, the university set new records for fundraising success and for applicant volume. President Lehman also led Cornell to forge new ties with the top universities in China, as well as to establish new links in France, India and Singapore.
President Lehman was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Peking University in recognition of his service as a bridge between scholars in the United States and China. He is also an honorary professor at China Agricultural University and at Xiamen University. President Lehman is Chair of the Board of Internet2 and a member of the governing boards of Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America and the Asian University for Women Support Foundation.
