Infosys Brings World-Renowned Software Career Training To Wayne County Community College District In Detroit

Fast-track Software Training Now Available to Aspiring Local Developers

Detroit, Mich. and Bridgewater, N.J., March 19

- Infosys, a global leader in consulting and technology, and Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) today marked the first classes of a new 18-week program to provide Infosys world-renowned software development training program to grow Detroit's technology talent pool. A job fair will follow the program, with Infosys and other prospective employers participating.

The Software Engineering Boot Camp is the result of a unique partnership between Infosys and WCCCD. Infosys, widely recognized for its software training programs and Corporate University, is now giving the same training to individuals in the Detroit metro area looking for rewarding new career opportunities in the fast growing technology field.

According to independent research firm Forrester Research, a dynamic technology landscape requires programmers and technologists to constantly update their technical and domain skills. Infosys, with its Global Education Center, is an IT services vendor with a state-of-the-art approach to employee training, noted Forrester in a recent report (1).

"This partnership is an opportunity to build strong career pathways in an important and fast growing sector of Wayne County's economy," said WCCCD Chancellor, Dr. Curtis L. Ivery. "We're excited about partnering with a global IT leader such as Infosys and appreciate their generosity in helping provide this training to direct more people into rewarding information technology careers."

"Infosys sees a great opportunity to provide our world-renowned training to produce skilled software developers in Detroit," said Ashok Vemuri, Member of the Board and Head of Americas, Infosys. "Career training to produce more top software developers is something we are delighted to offer to those participating in the program and to the city of Detroit."

The Software Engineering Boot Camp will use methods developed at the Infosys Global Education Center to train entry level software engineers. With Detroit as an emerging information technology hub, Infosys selected Wayne County Community College District as its educational partner to launch training in southeast Michigan. In order to sustain this initiative, Infosys will enable and support WCCCD trainers to conduct the next few training programs for more participants.

"This program not only provides a pathway to a better life for those that participate in it but provides highly skilled and capable workers to a growing sector of our regional economy," Ivery said. "Win-wins like this are a fundamental part of our mission and we're proud to participate in such a vital program with Infosys."

Ranked by Forbes Magazine as one of the ten most innovative companies in the world, Infosys serves Fortune 500 clients through a global network of 64 offices and 68 development centers in the United States, Europe, India, China and across the globe. WCCCD is the largest urban community college district in Michigan, with more than 70,000 students enrolled at its five campuses.
