Infosys’ Grid Framework Helps Nomura Achieve Business Agility

SETLabs Briefings: Performance Engineering and Enhancement

Nomura Securities, a leading securities and investment banking firm in Japan, partnered with Infosys to scale up its Interest Rate Risk Analysis application for mortgage-backed securities.

Nomura’s application, based on C/C++ and running on Solaris, was slow and affected the processing of products. Generation of risk reports took hours for traders and research analysts who performed risk analysis related to the market sensitivity of securities.

Infosys adopted a proactive and holistic performance engineering approach to enhance the performance and scalability of the application. We used our patent-pending Grid Application Migration Framework to port the application to a Grid environment.

Our approach enhanced the application’s performance by 150 times. In addition, our solution enabled Nomura to introduce new products faster and drastically reduce the time taken to generate reports.

Testimonials

"Agility and Process are generally thought of as antonyms but Infosys was somehow able to remarkably marry the two and work in a process oriented approach while yet meeting BT's demands of agility. This Infosys approach gave BT a reduced time to market and at the same time brought a great degree of predictability."
