Java Enterprise has become the de-facto standard for building enterprise applications. Evolution of the Java Enterprise platform through the community process has made it intricate and feature-rich. There is a need to proactively monitor the Java Enterprise technology platform to provide effective IT solutions to customers.

The Java Enterprise Center of Excellence (CoE) at SETlabs, Infosys' research group, pursues projects in multiple areas. The CoE has been established with the objective of partnering with customers to realize business benefits through effective adoption of Java Enterprise technology.

Research Directions
The Java Enterprise CoE pursues research in the following areas:

Application Development and Maintenance
Focuses on better and faster mechanisms to deliver software. Addresses enterprise challenges and tracks new trends in the Java enterprise technology space by combining the right process, tools and frameworks for application development, maintenance and service delivery.

Automated Software Engineering
The research focus is on enabling automation in Java enterprise application development and maintenance through creation of tools and techniques for model-driven development, software factories, code generation, code analysis, architecture recovery, program comprehension, etc. to significantly increase productivity, predictability and maintainability.

Application Transformation
The rapid evolution of Java technology and the fast changing product portfolio and services offerings necessitate applications to undergo continuous change to sustain and deliver business value. The research focus is on enabling seamless transformation of your application portfolio to and across Java enterprise technology platforms.

Enterprise Transformation
With businesses undergoing continuous transformation, it is imperative that their IT aligns fast with the growing business needs.
