Infosys’ Active Infrastructure Collaboration for Enhancing User Experience and Productivity
Smart environments will feature different computing devices with varying processing capabilities, energy resources, memory capacity and different ways of interacting with users, such as mobile phones, PDAs, RFID-enabled consumer products, and wall-sized displays. The main challenge will be to exploit the heterogeneity by building applications that make use of the specific capabilities of computing devices. This technology enables solutions that leverage enhanced device-to-device communication for creating seamless and productive computing solutions.
Infosys’ Broadcast over Wireless LANs
Infosys’ wireless broadcast technology enables devices to communicate without an inherent connected communication system. Wireless media is used to piggyback fragmented messages over standard beacon frames, enabling a low data rate, truly connectionless broadcast stream. The scheme supports multiple logical channels over the broadcast channel, without compromising reliability or robustness. This system leverages the broadcast nature of the control channel to provide parallel, short, connectionless data transfer streams.
Infosys’ Intention-based Resource Identification Service
Intention-based resource identification service works on the principle of end-users being able to freely sketch, describe and look for resources on the network without being bogged down by network names.
Infosys’ Secure WiFi Ad Hoc Terminals
With an estimated 70% of wireless users surfing on unsecured networks, establishing security on a wireless network is complex. When a wireless network is open, passers-by can plug into it, snare bandwidth and violate user privacy. To set up a secure peer-to-peer network, the WEP/WPA-PSK key needs to be shared in advance. Also, notification mechanisms need to be in place when the key is changed. Infosys’ Secure WiFi Ad Hoc Terminals technology enables you to set up secure, ad hoc communication among devices by leveraging the broadcast nature of the SSID.
Infosys' Task Aware Computing Platform
Realizes anytime, anywhere computing by placing users and their tasks at the center of the computing equation. In this platform, the computing devices (mobile or otherwise) are used to make tasks available to the user in a context-aware manner and customized to user preferences and device capabilities.
It demonstrates how an enterprise-grade pervasive computing platform can be successfully deployed in organizations through a combination of new software and integration of mature and viable mobile and wireless technologies.
