The client is a leading public sector organization catering to over 16,000 employees and contractors.

The client shares its SAP Suite on HANA hosted on Azure Cloud with 50+ government agencies. Infosys was already in charge of maintenance across infrastructure, applications, and processing. We recommended automation of testing to minimize effort and provide a robust underlying SAP landscape for the shared services.

Key Challenges

  • Manual testing processes led to lengthy timelines and project extensions
  • Substantial effort was spent in identifying scenarios, testing across project phases, and enacting weekly support changes
  • Defects in the landscape went unnoticed due to the lack of robust regression testing mechanisms

The Solution

Infosys proposed an initiative to automate the existing regression suite using Tricentis Tosca and to build a testing framework that would encourage an automation-first approach.

In doing so, this project helped automate the backlog of existing manual test scenarios, thereby reducing the ticket count of incidents after project go-live. It also reduced the cost of ongoing project test cycles.

Now, every IT project that requires testing can adopt an automation-first approach whereby test scenarios are created as part of the project to be automated right from its inception. This enables continuous flow automation.

Infosys introduces Tricentis Tosca tool to automate SAP regression testing

  • Infosys leveraged its strategic alliance with Tricentis to implement Tosca, a best-of-breed solution for test automation
  • Tapped into the knowledge of the client’s support team to ensure quality output of the automated regression suite
  • Automated over 150 test cases within 5 months
  • Provided ongoing support to maintain the automated test cases and periodically introduce additional ones to the automation suite
