SPARK – Where empowerment begins at 15 years
Infosys empowers the youth by providing them with hands-on experience in Information Technology through SPARK. The on-campus program initiates high school and engineering students across India.
SPARK offers a learning environment that helps students realize their potential and assess their industry-preparedness. The program partners with academic institutions to enhance the pool of talent as well as meet the demands of the IT industry.
Launched in August 2008, SPARK is managed by 2,400 Infosys volunteers across Development Centers (DCs).It has benefited more than 73,000 students and 4,000 teachers.
Under the auspices of SPARK, we conduct several activities:
SPARK-Rural Reach Program (RRP) initiates Grade 5-7 students of rural government schools within a radius of 50-150 km of our DCs into IT. RRP is associated with Infosys’ PC donation scheme that donates PCs to schools.
SPARK Catch Them Young (CTY ) provides IT exposure to students of urban high schools through a two-week summer vacation program at our DCs.
SPARK GURU brings together teachers from government and government-aided schools of rural areas. They are trained to use computers to teach students and inculcate habits of safety, security and hygiene.
