Celebrating diversity beyond the workplace
Infosys strives to promote diversity with the larger aim of achieving inclusivity in society. Towards this end, several initiatives are underway across Infosys campuses the world over, building a truly global and inclusive workforce. Employees have continued to contribute and involve themselves in large numbers to ensure the success of these programs.
Change agents at the workplace and beyond
On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2009, Infosys honored women employees with ‘Catalysts for Social Change’ awards. The winners were recognized for breaking social barriers and overcoming adversity in their attempt to make a difference to society. N R Narayana Murthy, Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor, launched Labyrinth, an e-learning program by Infosys Leadership Institute (ILI), to foster leadership in women.

Mentoring teachers to ensure inclusivity
N R Narayana Murthy also launched SPARK Guru, an initiative by Infosys Women’s Inclusivity Network (IWIN). Speaking on the occasion, Mr Murthy said, "For Infosys, diversity in talent is not an option but is a critical success factor to win in the Flat World."
The Guru with a spark
Spark Guru raises awareness among school teachers in rural areas about social issues from handling children with disabilities to counseling. Currently, about 40 trainers and more than 200 volunteers from Infosys IWIN circles across Developmental Centers in five Indian states assist approximately 450 teachers.
SPARK
is Infosys’ program to bring the IT industry into the classroom. It empowers students from high school to engineering, from different age groups and backgrounds. The program is focused on promoting gender-sensitivity to create a barrier-free work environment.
