Infosys Foundation and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan host a weeklong cultural festival in Thiruvananthapuram from January 21, 2023

Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys, along with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) have announced the fourth cultural festival in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, as part of a series of joint cultural festivals for the promotion of Indian visual and performing arts.

The weeklong event, from 21st to 27th January 2023, is being held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Senior Secondary School, Vattiyoorkavuin, in Thiruvananthapuram. Themed as 'Festival of Dance Drama’, the event will showcase various art forms of Kerala on one stage, and Kerala's traditional mural paintings by the artists of the Institute of Mural Painting, Guruvayur.

The event which was inaugurated by renowned film director and Padma Vibhushan awardee Shri Adoor Gopalakrishnan, commenced with a ritual performance known as ‘Ayyappan Theeyattu', by Theeyattu Raman Nambiar & Group.

During the festival, audiences will get a glimpse into other traditional folk art such as Koothum Koodiyattavum – an art form which is a combination of ancient Sanskrit-language theatre and Kathakali, an Indian classical dance form that presents stories from Indian epics such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Over the last few months, Infosys Foundation and BVB have successfully organized cultural festivals in Mysuru, Chandigarh and Hyderabad, with others scheduled to take place in New Delhi, Mumbai, Indore, and Bengaluru in the coming months. Through these festivals, Infosys Foundation and BVB will provide a platform to over 4,500 beneficiaries, including 3,000 artists from underprivileged communities to preserve traditional folk and classical art forms.

Infosys Foundation and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan share a common vision and mission to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of India. Over the last 25 years these two institutions have jointly made extraordinary contributions to promote art and culture.
