IT/OT Convergence Strategy and Design
Information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) are distinct from each other and were developed and managed separately by different departments for different objectives. For instance, IT is typically managed by the chief information officer (CIO) while OT falls under the chief operations officer (COO). Further, while IT is digital and constantly evolving, operational assets are mostly managed and controlled by technologies that are analog-based, limiting IT systems from retrieving and communicating their data. Thus, the convergence of these two very different technologies – IT and OT – is creating several challenges for enterprises.
Infosys Consulting leverages its IT/OT Convergence Strategy and Design solution to help clients efficiently manage:
- Workflow integration and digitization involving process reconciliation and harmonization for subsequent capture in a digital format
- Advanced analytics and better ownership through a single and robust platform that supports new business models with a common governance model
- Organization change management by adapting/harmonizing conflicting organization needs, processes and policies into a single organizational structure
