ICD-10 Transition Services

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has proposed a regulation that will replace the ICD-9 Clinical Modification code sets, now used to report healthcare diagnoses and procedures, with advanced ICD-10 code sets. The recommended date of compliance is October 1, 2013.

Transitioning to ICD-10 involves an overhaul of the current coding systems, and requires substantial investments in upgrading the IT systems. As an experienced partner with end-to-end capabilities, Infosys helps you move to ICD-10 swiftly and efficiently. We have several years of experience working with healthcare organizations, helping them with compliance mandates such as HIPAA and NPI. Our approach is supported by proprietary processes to ensure minimal disruption during transition, while saving costs. In order to help you adopt the new coding system, we offer comprehensive consulting, education, training, program management, and knowledge process outsourcing services. In addition, our experts provide customized solutions to meet your specific requirements.

Consulting services from Infosys include:

  • Assessing core as well as peripheral systems, such as claims adjudication, rating engines, EMR, HIM systems, to identify the impact areas
  • Generating prioritized transition checklists as well as conversion roadmap to remediate the impact and checking the readiness of data sources and applications to adopt the new code sets
  • Evaluating all RCM-specific and clinical interfaces to identify the remediation points; the evaluation will be based on transmission and clinical standards such as UB-04 and HL7 messaging standards
  • Analyzing scenarios driven through diverse case mixes, from ER to inpatient
  • Analyzing DRG-based payment impact

As payors try to remediate their systems according to the new code structures, Infosys helps an effective transition through customized offerings such as:

  • Probabilistic and configurable attribute-driven crosswalk to provide a higher level of flexibility in adopting code conversion according to your specific business needs
  • Out-of-the-box standards-based bidirectional interfaces to interact with underlying core systems such as claims adjudication, eligibility, and benefit planning
  • Rating engine annex to support consolidation of coding schemes, which will allow your current rating engines to continue working against the historical data based on dual code sets
  • ICD-10-specific components to support more granular DM / LM
