InStep, Infosys wins National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) Award 2012

InStep – the Infosys global internship program – has won the prestigious National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) Award for 'Work Placement of the Year 2012,' in the category 'best large organization with over 250 employees (short-term placements)'. Other shortlisted finalists in this category included BP, PwC, the BBC, Cancer Research UK, and Centrica.

NCWE promotes and supports quality work experience for the betterment of students, organizations and the economy of the UK. The NCWE Awards recognize global businesses that offer outstanding placement opportunities and student / graduate internships with a focus on enhancing employability.

This year, the NCWE Awards received over 330 entries, a record number. The shortlisted organizations were judged on the following criteria:

Goals and objectives

  • Variety of skills acquired as a result of the work experience
  • The impact / business benefits to the company resulting from the placement or internship

Support, assessment and feedback

  • The level and frequency of the organization's assessment, monitoring, and feedback mechanisms
  • How the student's / intern's feedback is used to inform future development of their placement or internship scheme

General work experience overview

  • What makes the placement or internship exceptional, and why?

The winners were announced during a ceremony at Merchant Taylors' Hall in London by the University of Liverpool's Dr. Paul Redmond – one of the UK's leading experts on graduate employability – and president-elect of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services.
