BASF and Infosys strengthen partnership to develop new digital services for smarter farming

BASF and Infosys have strengthened their collaboration to support farmers with new digital tools. This engagement further enhances BASF’s ability to explore new opportunities and create additional value for its customers.

As part of the collaboration, Infosys and BASF’s crop protection division are working on BASF’s digital offering called Maglis®, amongst others. Maglis helps farmers manage fields and supports them in making better decisions on how to grow and market their crops. Infosys is involved in the development of a number of tools and functionalities of Maglis, including the Maglis Crop Plan and the Maglis Customer Navigator.

Maglis Crop Plan offers a convenient and efficient way for farmers to monitor and manage their crops. The Maglis Customer Navigator is a tool used together by BASF and farmers to create individual field and crop management plans that enable them to manage risk and improve yield. Infosys has contributed to the development and deployment of the tools for BASF. Further projects are in the pipeline.

The partnership brings together Infosys’ expertise in digital, big data and open source technologies and BASF’s knowledge of chemistry, digital and agricultural business to collaborate on new offering for farmers, leveraging Infosys’ design thinking led approach and Agile and DevOps delivery model, to explore new ideas to improve yields sustainably.

Sandeep Dadlani, President and Global Head, Manufacturing, Retail, CPG and, Logistics, Infosys said: "The use of technology in agriculture has quickly become an effective way to improve crop yield and productivity. The real beauty of Maglis is the way it is being built; quite literally from the ground up in an Agile and DevOps delivery model.
