Infosys Pune Development Center organized Anti-Pollution March

Pune – December 19, 2018: Prakriti, the eco club at Infosys Pune Development Center (DC) organized the second edition of its Anti-Pollution march with an objective to create awareness on the alarming surge in air pollution in the city and to underscore the need to carpool or use public and company transport.

The rapid development, growth in population and the rise in the number of vehicles in Pune has significantly increased air pollution in the city beyond acceptable limits. The situation is further aggravated during winter and festive seasons causing a lot of health hazards.

The march garnered strong support from over 140 people working in and around Hinjawadi, with 120 Infoscions from Infosys Pune DC joining. A group of cyclists from Infosys also joined the march to encourage cycling to work. The Infoscions who participated in the silent march carried placards with messages regarding the rising air pollution, the need to improve the air quality and urging daily commuters to carpool, use public and company transport. The cause was also supported by other IT companies and carpool aggregators.

Prakriti is an employee volunteer group of Infosys Pune DC which works towards protecting the environment and creating awareness about air pollution, waste management, plantations etc. Through this anti-pollution march the Eco Club aspires to instill a sense of responsibility among the citizens of Pune towards the environment and society.
