Infosys to Serve Up Rich Analytics for Apia International Sydney 2016 Tennis Tournament through Infosys Information Platform

Sydney, January 15 2016: Infosys (NYSE: INFY), a leader in consulting, technology, outsourcing and next-generation services had announced an extension of its support for tennis beyond the global technology services partnership with the ATP World Tour - the governing body of men’s professional tennis circuits – announced in September 2015. Infosys today announced a partnership with Apia International Sydney 2016, an ATP 250 tournament and also one of the world’s oldest tennis tournaments, to be held from January 10-16, 2016.

Infosys will provide statistics and insights for fans and players by leveraging the Infosys Information Platform (IIP), its open-source data analytics and visualization platform. The platform will analyse historical player data to identify trends and insights about matches. These insights will engage both casual and ardent fans, provide information to commentators and media, and give players access to in-depth data about their game and those of their competitors.

The initiatives within the larger partnership that Infosys has with the ATP World Tour include:

  • Creation of an exclusive Infosys ATP Scores & Stats Center to revolutionize engagement with tennis fans by providing unprecedented insights and predictions about every tournament, every match and every point.
  • Reimagining the ATP Player Zone, a next-generation player engagement platform and mobile app, to elevate the experience for players and enable them to register for tournaments, review travel information, connect with other players, and stay up-to-date on all ATP World Tour news
  • Managing the infrastructure, applications, and data of ATP World Tour by leveraging the elasticity and computational power of the cloud-based model

In November, 2015, Infosys delivered insights through IIP around probabilistic serve speeds, aces, double faults, match winning streaks, first serve returns, fatigue indexes and more for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. The week-long season-ending tournament sees the top eight singles players and doubles teams compete for the champion’s title. Processing 240,000 records (12 million data points) in near real-time, IIP provided insights which were published live on the Infosys ATP Scores and Stats Center at ATPWorldTour.com
