Infosys commissioned a study of 130 senior executives from manufacturing organizations with revenues over USD 500 million across the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). The respondents were senior executives involved in cybersecurity initiatives representing both technology and business functions.

The survey was aimed at understanding the cybersecurity initiatives for the manufacturing industry. Some interesting findings are:

  • 59% in the manufacturing industry have a well-defined enterprise-wide strategy/roadmap implemented
  • With cyber threats and cyberattacks on the rise, respondents viewed hackers and hacktivists (85%), corporate espionage (82%) and insider threats (72%) as the top concerns
  • Manufacturers said they are challenged when trying to embed security in the enterprise IT architecture (67%), keep pace with fast-changing cyber technologies (66%) and build a security-first culture (57%)
  • Respondents said they employ methods such as training and certifications (67%), workshop and enablement sessions (60%) and collaboration with technology vendors and service providers (57%) to overcome existing challenges
  • The top solutions implemented today are security incident management (72%), intrusion prevention system (71%), and risk and compliance (71%)
