Watch Confluence 2016 highlights
Infosys Confluence, our flagship thought leadership summit will be hosted at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco from May 23 to 25, 2017. It will bring together 2,000+ leaders, technology evangelists and visionary teachers to explore the future of the digital revolution and its impact on business. Creating a reverberating world of learning and sharing around purposeful automation and innovation, the event will facilitate the sharing of best practices through interactive sessions through a combination of engaging keynotes, thought-provoking panel discussions and peer-networking opportunities.
Perhaps the biggest disruption of our times is the accelerating force of technology and digitization. Everything around is beginning to both sense and respond, in real time, to the world around. Cars can tell anxious parents if their teens are driving safely, machinery on the shop floor can alert technicians to when they might break down and how to prevent that from happening, and even that innocuous toothbrush on your bathroom shelf can now tattle to dental insurers should you forget to brush before bed. Clearly, technology is making everything around us smarter.
This deep intermingling of bits and atoms is opening up a whole new world of possibilities, and our path forward is very clear – we need to harness the dual forces of automation and innovation. Automation to become more productive, and with the resulting capacity – focus our attention upwards towards innovation. The foundation for all of this can only be our infrastructure for life-long learning.
Although we are in the early stages of understanding how intelligent systems and people can work together more seamlessly, there is great hope that when we do achieve such a deep symbiosis, the amplification of our humanity will be immense. When technology will bring to life all that we imagine, the only task before us – perhaps our greatest responsibility even – will be to unlimit ourselves, our imaginations and be all that we can be.
Moscone West, 800 Howard Street, San Francisco
Moscone Center is the largest convention and exhibition complex in San Francisco, California. Moscone West, where Infosys Confluence 2017 will take place, is a freestanding building and is almost as large as one city block. It comprises three levels that are 110 feet above street level with about 300,000 square feet of space. Moscone West is in the heart of South of Market Area and is a short walk from hotels, restaurant and downtown Union Square.
Interesting Fact about Moscone Center: The largest city-owned solar power system in the United States is located at the Moscone Center. Covering 60,000 square feet with 5,400 solar panel systems, equivalent to the size of a football field, it generates 826,000 kWh annually. This is equivalent to power 184 homes in San Francisco for an entire year, removing 7,000 cars from the road, or not driving 88 million miles. Over the lifetime of the project, it will reduce 35,000 tons of CO2.

Where Will AI Take Us?
Three leaders, from diverse industries, tell us how they explored AI's incredible possibilities. How different are their stories? How similar? And how, as the more mundane tasks were alleviated through technology, their people found more and more creative and meaningful ways to work. Find out.
Breakout Room: Culture
Training for Jobs that Don't Yet Exist
The fourth industrial revolution will turn the world of work on its head. People can no longer rely on just one skillset or narrow expertise to sustain long-term careers. Incentivizing employees to commit to lifelong learning so they continue to develop their skills or even retrain for new roles, will be key to business' ability to prosper. Our panelists have some successful 'how to' ideas to share.
Breakout Room: Innovation
Anyone can Innovate
While traditional enterprises are still ideating and innovating within ‘innovation departments’ and labs, smarter setups are internalizing innovation so that everyone in the organization, at every level, finds a deeper purpose in their jobs, is motivated to realize that purpose, and as a result innovates as part of the job. It's inspiring - learning how these leaders on the panel made an ideas-based culture a reality for their business.
Breakout Room: Interactive
AI Research-based Workshop
How can business leaders harness AI to take advantage of the specific strengths of man and machine? This is a great opportunity to find, frame and solve the challenges of human-machine synergies—and learn from each other—so we might each be benefited by the full potential of AI.

The Bits and Atoms of Business: Getting it Right
The challenge before every business today is getting a digital strategy that really works. One that has those essentials that renew the existing business, and also innovations that explore new frontiers. Our distinguished panelists have been there, done that and happy to share their experiences.
Smashing the Glass Ceiling
We need more women in business leadership today to represent our consumers, to bring a valuable different point of view and to contribute with a different management style. So, how can we make progress? How can we hire, promote and encourage women to take on those greater responsibilities? How can we fix the culture and systems that make up that glass ceiling?

15:10 – 15:40
The more powerful Artificial Intelligence becomes, the more it has potential to be used not just for good but also for nefarious reasons. After all, we’ll be dealing with a system that is faster and more capable than us by orders of magnitude. And risks – ranging from privacy protection to cyber security – will get more real, pressing and must be tackled. Some leaders already have a plan, others prototypes. Let’s listen. It’s a safe bet, literally.
Growing up Coding
Are schools truly enabling our kids to exploit and benefit from the incredible opportunities of technology? A simple but significant thing we can change in the system is to include computer science as part of the core curriculum - right from the start. This would give everyone access to fundamental knowledge and skills, removing the elitism around technology and enabling us all to be part of the progress. Corporates can help in a big way. Our panelists show just how.
Nurturing Collective Genius
Most of the world’s real innovations come not from individuals labouring away in isolation, or even from 'eureka' moments, but from working together. Great ideas are brought to life by connected minds, working in a thriving ecosystem. Ask this panel of business leaders who've created environments where people collaborate and big ideas coalesce to become bigger.
Sprint from Idea to Prototype: Design Thinking Workshop
Learn the art and science of the process to respond to critical business challenges through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers. It’s a ‘battle-tested’ process that any team can use to build outcomes related to business strategy, innovation, and more.
15:45 – 16:15
The Real Potential of Digital Twin
What if we can combine data and intelligence to digitally represent the structure, context and behavior of any physical system so we can understand its past and present operation, and make predictions about the future? GE was among the first to ask this question and begin the fascinating journey to discover digital twins. Now, find out what that discovery can mean for your business.
Millennials: Move Up. Or Move On
Over half of the people we place into work every day are under 35. And these Millennials want a new deal: they’ll work hard for you if you help them develop the skills they need to advance and improve their long-term career prospects. Our panelists caught on early. Tune in as they share how they nurtured and supported that goal, attracting the best talent, keeping it and getting their business ahead in the bargain.

Free-Riding on the Efforts of Machines. Yay or Nay
The unconditional universal basic income or ‘digital dividend’ is a concept gathering momentum. Fueling it is the idea that in the future when machines deliver productivity gains that can be distributed, there may not be the need for everyone to contribute in a traditional way (by holding down a job as a means of subsistence). The proposal is often contrasted with welfare. And arguments in favor and against will be vigorously made in this session. Join the debate.
Ideas Worth Paying For
Big businesses don’t want to miss out on the next big thing. And yet few can move as quickly as the agile newbies in rapidly changing markets. That’s why, if you want to effectively compete and innovate continually, it can’t all be always from within, opine our panelists who have successfully driven acquisitions not only to broaden their businesses but also to sustain the pace of innovation. Find out how they make it all work.

Trust Blockchain to Do it
Blockchain may have been developed as a system for payments, but big banks are seeing several other applications for it and its other advocates almost endless possibilities - from connected healthcare benefits to tackling human trafficking. Join this expert panel and see what ideas you can take away for your own business.
Like a Startup
Learn a trick or two from those who prize agile decision making and a quick iterative approach over long drawn planning and consensus building. Invaluable in a world where offerings can become obsolete almost overnight. And for industries that find the revenue-generating window for products narrowing by the day. Join these leaders for whom rapid-response, risk-taking and speed-development of products are all simply integral to an action-biased work culture.

Why Robots Make Great Colleagues
Tune in to real-life stories of robotic automated processes taking care of repetitive, time-consuming work - updating client profiles, processing insurance claims, registering patients, scheduling appointments - and becoming central to so many business processes. Our panel of leaders will tell you how this then freed their people to move up, innovate and deliver higher value work.
Let’s examine our own mindsets and practices. Do we believe that a leader’s job is to set direction and make sure no one deviates from it? Do we cling to the notion of a visionary leading from the front? Or do we serve as the ‘stage setter’, whose primary role is to create a context in which the team can innovate? Do we have the courage and patience required to amplify differences, even when the discussions become heated and when ambiguity and complexity loom? Our panel of leaders answer these difficult questions with candor.

The financial services industry continues to experience unprecedented change. The rapid evolution of technologies is one of the forces disrupting the prevalent business models of banks. Our view is that banks can leverage the very same technologies as a catalyst to drive sustainable growth. The banking track will have a special focus on how banks can unlimit themselves and reimagine banking with these modern technologies.
At Confluence this year, the Finacle team will conduct a banking-industry networking day on May 22, followed by a full-day banking track on May 23. Please plan to reach San Francisco by noon on May 22 to maximize your experience at the event.

08:40 – 09:40
The banking industry is evolving at an unprecedented pace. Forces, such as weak economy, digitization, intensifying competition, demanding customers and increasing regulation, threaten to further disrupt traditional business models and lower profits for the global banking industry. Clearly, many incumbents are struggling to keep pace. However, the technology which is causing this disruption can also be leveraged as a catalyst to drive sustainable growth. The possibilities are many – if we choose to unlimit ourselves and reimagine banking with modern technologies. This session will share Finacle’s vision and strategy to help banks achieve this.

To keep pace with industry evolution and customer expectations, many banks are taking the route of creating or acquiring digital-only subsidiaries. The strategy is popularly known as “Digital bank in a bank”.
This approach help traditional banks to fast-track the process of designing a fresh value proposition in alignment with contemporary market expectations . The panel, consisting of banking leaders who have successfully executed this strategy, will articulate the benefits and challenges of taking this approach.
12:05 – 12:45
Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, predictive/prescriptive analytics, virtual agent and natural language understanding (avatar) technologies are gaining popularity among progressive banks. What can one achieve with these technologies ? How much of this is a reality today ? Listen to the point of views of global banking leaders who collaborated to create actionable perspectives on AI powered banking.
12:45 – 13:45
13:45 – 15:00
To realize the aspiration of truly digital transformation, traditional banks need to take a holistic approach. While most banking leaders are eager to add new digital capabilities that will open up greenfield opportunities for growth and profitability, they have to also ensure their existing processes, and applications are capable of absorbing and supporting such rapid innovations. A linear approach, which prioritizes one over the other, is likely to fail. Listen to this panel of bankers who have taken a holistic approach to digitization and have established a robust foundation for accelerated growth.
15:00 – 15:40
Banking is evolving continuously, and this pace will only be faster than ever in 2017. The key question haunting every banking leader thus is ‘how do we continue to stay relevant and leverage the emerging technologies to drive growth’. It’s increasingly evident that only those banks who are able to successfully transform themselves into a truly digital business will emerge as winners. Listen to this panel of technology leaders who will discuss the new normal in the digital age and provide insights on how banks can accelerate their transformation journey toward truly digital banking.

Start-up pitch : Presentations by three FinTechs
Blockchain is arguably the greatest disruptor to the global financial system in a generation. While many technologies have changed banking, few have fundamentally challenged the operating principles underlying banking transactions and processes. Few banks have taken the lead in reimagining banking processes to take advantage of the blockchain technology. Listen to this panel of banks share their organization’s vision for transforming processes with the blockchain technology.
