Jason Goodall is a world-renowned broadcaster, particularly well known for his tennis commentary and exceptional analytical skills. He has an authoritative on-air presence, developed over the last fifteen years in television and media. He currently broadcasts at all of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments as well as the major events on the ATP, WTA, and International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) tours for a variety of networks including ESPN, BBC, Eurosport International, Tennis Channel, Sky Sports, and beIN Sports.

EARLY LIFE

Prior to becoming a broadcaster, Jason was a rising star in tennis with a promising future. He started playing tennis in Zambia, Central Africa, when he was nine. Upon returning to the UK three years later he was chosen to represent Great Britain (under-12 level) and continued to do so throughout his junior career. He was the British number one junior, he won a silver medal at the European Championships under-14 and competed at the highest levels of the ITF Junior Circuit, until he was 18.

Jason was also ranked as highly as British number two in the official senior rankings, and was chosen to represent Great Britain in the Davis Cup team in 1989. However, his playing career was cut short when he was forced to retire aged just 21, due to a chronic elbow injury.

COACHING

When his professional playing career ended Jason naturally turned to coaching, which proved extremely successful. He worked with some of the world’s best players, including 21-times Grand Slam doubles champion Pam Shriver and former world number four Mary-Joe Fernandez, whom he guided to the 1990 Australian Open singles and doubles finals.

He also worked with a number of other players on the WTA tour including former world number ones Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario and Jennifer Capriati as both coach and hitting partner, before taking up a position as International Squad Coach at the Lawn Tennis Association in London.

As a fully qualified coach he was responsible for developing some of the very best male and female juniors in the UK, overseeing their transition from the junior game to professional tours. He was later appointed Great Britain’s Federation Cup coach in 1995.

He also worked with former world number four Tim Henman during his off-seasons at various stages throughout Henman's career and travelled as his coach when his regular coach, David Felgate, was unavailable.

BROADCASTING CAREER: COMMENTATOR AND ANALYST

Alongside his professional coaching career, Jason began to pursue television commentary, writing, and production at various tennis events around the world.

In 2001 he started commentating on the ATP World Tour and continues to do so to this day. Since then his voice has been heard around the world on various channels during events on both the men’s and women's professional tours, as well as the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), which was formed in 2014.

He began broadcasting at the Australian, French and US Opens for Eurosport in 2002 and continued to do so until 2014. He also worked at Wimbledon for the BBC for 11 consecutive years until 2014.

Since 2015 he has served as an ESPN tennis commentator and analyst at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open as well as various events that are part of the official US Open Series. He currently works at the French Open for British Eurosport and Eurosport International.

Media Experience: Producing Content and Journalism

Jason has extensive production and journalism experience and is a sought after producer of tennis content for television, online and social media platforms. His multi-faceted strengths include scriptwriting, story boarding, voicing, emceeing and presenting.

He has served as Executive Producer of the IPTL since 2016, responsible for overseeing much of the format and broadcast programming. In addition, he has been a featured sports writer with various newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal, The Times and several other tennis magazines including the official ATP magazine Deuce and Tennishead.

Jason has also contributed numerous articles for official tennis websites, including ATP.com and the Wimbledon Championships.
