Richard Pinnock

President, Energy Business, Poyry

Mr. Richard Pinnock joined Pöyry in 1997 and has more than 30 years of experience in the energy and industrial sectors, the last 19 years on an international basis. Mr. Pinnock has been on the Pöyry Group Executive Committee for the past 15 years 7 of which as the President of Pöyry’s Energy Business Group from 2003 until 2010.

Mr. Pinnock has been responsible for Group Strategy and M&A and is currently responsible for large complex projects and global sales, with specific focus on contracting/turnkey type (EPC and O&M) projects across all Pöyry Group business sectors. Mr. Pinnock was responsible for developing Pöyry’s unique EPC+ System Methodology, now forming the basis of Pöyry’s contracting business. As of August 2016, he has once again also taken responsibility for Pöyry’s Energy Business Group.

Mr. Pinnock has had first hand EPC project execution experience in Asia, and as a Senior Project Manager he has been involved in various power sector studies and has gained wide experience in leading multi-discipline teams of expatriate and national professionals.

Mr. Pinnock has particular expertise in the management of large fossil fuel power facilities operating in a competitive power pool environment. As a Power Plant Manager, he has been responsible for the daily generating unit bid strategy to maximize the return on investment for a 3,600 MW power facility in South Africa operating within the internal Eskom power pool structure.

Mr. Pinnock has a BSc Mechanical Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, 1983; a BComm (Hons), University of South Africa, South Africa, 1991; and participated in a LPSF Executive Programme, Harvard Business School, Boston, USA, 2002.
