Hello, my name is Hlib!
My career journey with Infosys began in March 2021, after I graduated from the University of Toronto. Armed with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics, I started my first project as Service Now Developer at Infosys Toronto, Canada.
For a brief while, before I joined Infosys, I worked as a freelance web developer. During this time, I was quickly learning about the world of web development and its exciting prospects. While Computer Science certainly was my chosen field and my passion, I wasn’t sure of where it would take me in my career. During my job search, I harbored reservations about the value a fresh graduate such as myself could add to a business & how I could make an impact at the company I work.
I chanced upon an informative session that Infosys conducted at my university and that was a turning point for me. I learnt about the large network of businesses, clients, and large-scale projects that Infosys has successfully navigated & realized that this was a career opportunity, not to be missed.
And I took the plunge into the enormous and fascinating world of Infosys, with its knowledge network that is constantly expanding. I was regularly bombarded with notifications about new learning areas and webinars. Learning never stops here at Infosys, which ensures that my career will never stand still.
One of the things I like most and which motivates me about working at Infosys is the centralized & formal process of documenting new knowledge. This ensure that my experience will help someone, or that I can receive assistance in my work, through someone else’s knowledge repository. Another value system that Infosys nurtures and is fascinating to see is how Infosys provides options to change careers and how Infoscions are openly embracing the idea.
Although I joined Infosys and completed onboarding during COVID – 19 isolation, it was very rewarding and proved to be an extremely seamless transition from my academic life into the job world. While in training I also learnt how much Infosys values cultural values and inclusivity. The company believes in moving forward together & encourages it by offering resources to learn culture that is local to client’s office. Truly inspiring.
In addition to culture inclusivity there is also age inclusivity. Being fresh out of university, when presented with more than we can handle, we can understandably feel anxious. In my case it was even more than usual. However, when I joined the company my fears were allayed, and Infosys’ welcoming culture offered me the sense of security I needed as a new joinee and continues to give me confidence in my abilities.
As I look forward to my career at Infosys, I intend to follow the footsteps of the many students, fresh out of college, who went on to join Infosys and build successful and fulfilling careers. And I intend to bring to the table as much value, as Infosys has brought for me in these few months.
Hello!
I am Zhong Zhao, a Technical Analyst with over 20 years of programming experience. I joined Infosys in January 2020.
My career of over 2 decades has been an interesting journey, weaving in and out of my dual interests and qualifications - Environmental Engineering and Programming. I served as a professor in Environmental Engineering at Wuhan Science & Technology, China. And then went on to work as a Scientific Researcher at the City College, City University of New York & New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA.
While working on projects in Environmental Engineering, I had an opportunity to write programs that collect and analyze data from experiments. I was naturally drawn to this aspect of my work, which opened a new world of opportunities to me.
So, eventually when I migrated to Canada in 1995, I applied to jobs in both Environment & IT domains. And fortunately for me back then, I found a job as a programmer. With this, I could make an entry into the IT field in Canada. And as they say, the rest is history and I’ve transitioned into the role of a software engineer having worked at financial and software companies across USA and Canada.
In one of my stints in the US, I had interacted with Infosys on a platform integration project. Ever since, I’ve been fascinated about the company and its technology advancements. I kept track of the progress Infosys made over the years for themselves and the impact they had on client businesses. There was a special place for this company in my heart, and it comes with no surprises that Infosys became my first port of call on my return to Canada. It is one of the few large IT employers in Canada that helps me bring together all my passions - Mathematics, finance, and OpenEdge Programming. No small wonder, that life at Infosys is interesting and fun for me since I get to work on projects I truly love.
Another aspect of working at Infosys that makes my job a dream come true, is the ‘one-big-happy-family’ atmosphere. I got a glimpse of this, soon after coming onboard the company when COVID-19 made waves in the world. On one of my commutes on the Toronto subway, there was an untoward pandemic related incident leading to panic. My colleagues at Canada and managers in US heard were supportive through the entire episode. My fears and panic were allayed by their timely phone calls. Infosys cares for its own – I can see this in the innumerable mails that provide us with information that help us deal with pandemic induced issues. Not just that, Infosys was one of the first companies that announced work from home – earlier than most employers in North America. Joining Infosys, to me, was like a home coming.
Learning is an unceasing process here. Ever since I joined Infosys, my seniors Bala Subramaniyan and Vaibhav Ashok Parab have guided me with my projects on VPAS application – a completely new domain to me. When I need direction, they are quick to support me. The culture in this organization is such that it appreciates diversity and nurtures it. My colleagues from all over the world, with different backgrounds and skill sets, work together harmoniously learning from each other all the while. I can say with pride that I am an ‘Infoscion’.
