Infosys Hartford - The Cherry on top

Andy Martinez

Working at Infosys has been everything I’ve wished for and more and being placed at the Hartford Hub has been the cherry on top. Hello, my name is Andy Martinez and I’ve been at Infosys for over a year now (Aug 2018). I’m currently a Sr. Associate who graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as a CS major. After graduation I wanted to start my career off by going to a place where I can apply what I’ve learned in school and learn a range of new skills that would help me become an expert in my field. Infosys has done exactly that and is one of the reasons why I love it here. I’ve been able to become a more proficient full stack developer while learning new things about artificial intelligence.

Having lived in the state of New York all my life, I never knew much about the neighboring state of Connecticut and its capital, Hartford. Working here at the hub has allowed me to see what Hartford is all about and has made me realize why Infosys being here is special. Having been an attendant of the Hartford Hub inauguration I was able to see, at the time, Governor Dannel Malloy, Governor-Elect Ned Lamont, and Hartford’s Mayor Luke Bronin. From that moment on I knew that Infosys meant a lot to the city of Hartford and the state of Connecticut. It made me glad that I was going to be part of an ongoing movement (with Jeff Auker at the helm) that would ultimately lead to making this city a huge player in the technology sector nationwide.

The culture at the office is unlike anything I’ve ever heard about most professional environments. And part of the reason is the open office layout that we have along with the vibrant colors. In some ways it feels like I’m with family as it seems that everyone knows each other and are friendly with one another. This feeling is always reinforced with the Hub events that we consistently have thanks to our HR leaders, Divya and Michelle along with the guidance provided by Ranga. Whether it’s a holiday/cultural event, women empowerment discussion, or a game night, we all come together to learn more and have fun. Additionally, everyone is very open to helping one another to ensure that we are able to provide the best service to our clients in the event that one gets stuck on a particular problem.

With all that being said, it has been an absolute pleasure seeing the Hartford Hub get off to a running start and its evolution throughout its first year. I’m thankful for those who made all this possible and for those I’ve met who make working here something I always look forward to. I’m excited for what the future holds and can’t wait to see how the hub will continue to change and impact the daily lives of the Infoscions here.

Happy birthday Hartford Hub,
Andy Martinez
