Creating Real-Time Supply Chain Visibility for a Leading Fast Fashion Retailer

How Infosys helped a fast fashion retailer improve in-transit goods tracking, automate ETA replanning, strengthen disruption response, and enhance supply chain visibility through a digital twin powered by Infosys Live Enterprise knowledge graph capabilities.

Situation

A leading fast fashion retailer was facing limited visibility across its supply chain, particularly when goods were in transit from suppliers. This created significant operational challenges, including difficulty tracking shipments, managing supply disruptions such as shipping delays, and providing customers with reliable delivery commitments. Planners were spending considerable time manually replanning stock, managing estimated arrival times for purchase orders, and adjusting data to confirm delivery timelines.

These manual interventions also affected the accuracy of OTIF metrics, as planned and actual ETAs for purchase orders had to be reconciled manually. The retailer needed a more intelligent, real-time view of supply chain movement so planners could identify disruption impacts faster, reduce manual effort, improve customer delivery confidence, and strengthen overall supply chain maturity.

Solution

Infosys implemented a digital twin of the retailer’s supply chain entities, leveraging the knowledge graph capability of Infosys Live Enterprise. The solution connected suppliers, shipments, vessels, purchase orders, and inventory data into a unified visibility layer, enabling real-time disruption impact analysis through intuitive, persona-based dashboards.

The platform enabled real-time tracking of goods in transit and automated ETA replanning for purchase orders. It also generated alerts for planners when purchase orders were impacted by supply disruptions such as shipping delays or supplier production delays. A planned integration with MarineTraffic.com demonstrated how live vessel data could further enhance shipment intelligence and decision-making. As a result, the retailer improved on-time delivery, committed supply reliability, and end-to-end supply chain visibility, while reducing manual planning effort and enabling faster, more proactive disruption management.
