Infosys Foundation Joins Hands with Prerna Charitable Trust to Advance Healthcare in Rural Mangaluru
Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys, has collaborated with Prerna Charitable Trust to extend a grant to Puttur Government Hospital in Mangaluru. The grant of INR 85 lakhs will be used to procure essential medical equipment, helping the hospital enhance its treatment capacity and deliver quality healthcare to patients, particularly women and children from nearby villages.
Puttur Government Hospital is a 100-bed taluk facility and the second largest government hospital in the district, serving patients daily from 22 surrounding villages. Despite being supported by a team of dedicated specialists and surgeons, the hospital has been facing gaps in infrastructure. This has led to long wait times for patients, especially women, who often delay or skip treatment because of limited facilities and shared spaces.
The initiative will significantly address these challenges. It will boost the hospital’s surgical capacity, aiming to increase the number of procedures from 3–4 to 8–10 surgeries per day. It will also help set up a separate treatment area for women. The upgraded facilities are expected to benefit 500 outpatients and 100 inpatients daily, with women accounting for over 65% of the total.
This collaboration reaffirms the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare infrastructure and promoting inclusive access to quality medical services in underserved communities.
