Infosys Launches Grid Modernization Center of Excellence in Brazil to Accelerate Energy Transition
Infosys is pleased to announce the launch of a new Grid Modernization Center of Excellence (CoE) in Brazil, reinforcing its commitment to advancing digital transformation across Brazil’s power sector and strengthening support for North American utilities.
The CoE will serve as a hub for innovation in grid technologies including Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMs), AI and analytics, industrial IoT, and cybersecurity for utilities. These technologies are foundational digital capabilities that enable the decarbonization of the energy system through a decentralized and bi-directional electric grid and increased penetration of renewable resources.
Integrated with Infosys’ global Grid CoE ecosystem, the Brazil CoE will leverage our energy transition ecosystem that includes our strategic academic collaborators like the Stanford Bits & Watts initiative and The Energy Consortium, IIT Madras to drive applied research and co-innovation in grid technologies.
A key pillar of this initiative is Infosys’ commitment to developing local talent. The center will be staffed by experts familiar with Brazilian energy regulations, market dynamics and operational challenges, and will focus on upskilling professionals in next-generation grid technologies to strengthen Brazil’s clean energy transition.
In addition to serving the domestic market, the CoE will also support North American utilities, enabling cross-market collaboration and scaling of digital grid solutions.
Key areas of impact include:
- Localized Innovation: Building on Brazil’s evolving energy landscape to deliver solutions tailored to regional needs, while leveraging global expertise.
- Talent and Capability Development: Training and empowering local professionals to lead the digital transformation of Brazil’s energy infrastructure.
- Sustainable Energy Transition: Enabling utilities to achieve operational efficiency, grid reliability and sustainability goals through advanced digital technologies.
This new initiative reflects Infosys’ continued investment in the energy transition ecosystem, fostering innovation and collaboration to build resilient, intelligent, and sustainable grids for the future.
