Session 1

Topic: Leverage global procurement to minimize procurement costs and achieve efficiencies through buyer work center enhancements

Time: 10:25 a.m. – 10:35 a.m.
Repeat session
Date: Wednesday, January 28, 2015
Time: 2:40 p.m. – 2:50 p.m.
Speakers: Rakesh Babu Golapalli, Associate Vice President – Client Services, Infosys
Chandrashekar Poonachi, Principal Consultant, Infosys

Session description:
In order to minimize procurement costs and enable better inventory turnover, global procurement feature of Oracle Purchasing was leveraged by the client. The solution brought forth the setting up of a new global company with centralized global warehouse and establishing a business model to optimally transfer inventory from the global warehouse to the regional warehouses. Additionally, sourcing features were used to drive lower global acquisition costs with suppliers, ensuring that the model is economically viable. Resource efficiencies were achieved through a new ‘global buyer’ role along with regional buyers involved.

Infosys leveraged and enhanced buyer work center features to create a single UI of work for buyers. In addition to utilizing the standard dashboards and purchasing functionalities, the workbench was enhanced to show advanced shipment notifications (ASNs), reconcile supplier PO backlog, expedite purchase orders with suppliers through specific criteria, and enable rules to identify and selectively group requisitions to convert to POs. This single workbench for buyers significantly reduced the manual work and achieved efficiencies.
