Utility companies are changing to daily hourly-reading from monthly reading of meters. This results in large volume of data on meter reading and billing. Several utilities are transitioning to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)/ Smart Grid to manage the change. This exerts pressure on the existing legacy Customer Information Systems (CIS).
The AMI/ Smart Grid implementation also brings in new business demands such as remote connect/ disconnect, automated outage detection, pre-pay service, and net metering.
This session explores avenues to create a CIS Road Map to AMI/ Smart Grid compliance successfully.
