Configuration Management Database (CMDB) has emerged as a powerful enabler of business-IT alignment, with far-reaching benefits in diverse areas. Envisioned as a repository of all IT components and their relationship information, CMDB presents several challenges in data management, including:
- designing a uniform data model
- deciding data depth and breadth
- assigning accountability for data management
- keeping data updated
Organizations that learn from Data Governance best practices do a better job in meeting these challenges.
This session uses real-life examples to demonstrate:
- the relevance of data management best practices to CMDB implementations
- the innovative approaches to data management used in successful CMDB implementations
Adarsh Kumar works on infrastructure management projects, ITIL-based process assessment and design for IT service management and managing transitions for outsourced managed services.
