Session Details

Topic: Spatial Business Intelligence for the Smart Grid
Date: September 2, 2009
Time: 10:30 AM
Speaker: Abhinav Dehariya, Consultant, Energy & Utilities practice, Infosys Technologies

Session Description
The adoption of the Smart Grid delivers benefits to utility companies in several areas of cost management. It helps companies enhance data quantity, quality and availability significantly. Successful analysis of this data enables precise cost avoidance efforts associated with infrastructure maintenance and growth. It will also be an enabler for accurate demand-side management efforts, increased grid reliability and measurability, and enhanced customer satisfaction.

While traditional Business Intelligence (BI) methods exploit the dimension of time for the analysis, Spatial Business Intelligence provides another dimension - Space - to analysis. Utility companies must exploit Spatial Business Intelligence to capitalize on the data offered by the Smart Grid.
