ITIL says that the service catalog is a written statement of IT services, default levels and options and that it is integral to the service level management process. IT services are being offered and received irrespective of whether there is a service catalog, so the question really is: Does service catalog hold any value? Janaki Chakravarthy speaks on the values of service catalogs and the challenges and guiding principles of creating useful and practical service catalogs.



Janaki Chakravarthy is a Senior Consultant with Infosys. With over 14 years of IT Service Management experience, she led the BS15000 certification initiative at Infosys. She is a certified ITIL Service Manager, PMP and CISA. Janaki has helped several Fortune 100 companies assess their process maturity and adopt ITIL best practices. She is an active member of the itSMF UK Publications Committee.
