Infosys Chandigarh successfully concludes Hackathon-September 2017

The Infosys Chandigarh Development Center organized a Hackathon event for local college students and working professionals with an objective to provide hands-on experience on real-time scenarios, industry best practices and frameworks. Over 40 teams participated in a 24 hour Hackathon over September 22 – 24, 2017, hosted by Infosys at its campus. The Chief Guest, Mr. V.P Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, inaugurated the event.

The theme of the Hackathon was ‘How can we elevate Chandigarh Tricity to the next level of digitization’. Students and IT professionals from various institutions came together to identify problems and design suitable solutions. The problem statements included Patient’s vital stats using IOT, Smart LPG regulator, Smart City Application using Artificial Intelligence and Hospital Queue Management.

The event consisted of separate tracks for IT professionals and college students respectively. The teams who qualified for the final round were evaluated by a panel of experts from across fields in the city. The Jury members included Mr. Ajay Srivastava – STPI Joint Director, Mohali, Dr. Mahesh-Head OPD, PGI, Chandigarh, Mr. Sanjay Sharma -General Manager - HUDA , Panchkula, Mr. Vikas Ahuja -DC Head Chandigarh, along with internal members from Infosys.

Winners

  • Under the first track for IT professionals, Infosys won the first prize for designing an AI Based ticketing system for grievances and IDS InfoTech Ltd were declared runners up for creating a Hospital Queue Management System.
  • Under the second track for college level, Lovely Professional University was declared winners for their Innovation Queue Management Solution and Maharishi Markandeshwar Engineering College were declared runners up for their Smart City Application using AI.

The winners were felicitated by Mr. Ajit Balaji Joshi, Chief Guest, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, and Mrs. Gauri Prashar Joshi, Guest of Honor, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula.
