Infosys Foundation to Construct a 100-bed Hostel for Girls at IIIT Tiruchirapalli

Bengaluru – January 18, 2021: Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Tiruchirapalli to construct a 100-bed hostel for girls on their campus. The facility will be named ‘Infosys Foundation Girls Hostel’.

The Foundation stone-laying ceremony of this new facility at IIIT Tiruchirapalli, took place today, in the virtual presence of Smt. Sudha Murty - Chairperson, Infosys Foundation, and Prof. NSVN Sarma – Director of IIIT Tiruchirapalli.

Established in 2013, the Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli (popularly known as IIIT Trichy) is an academic and research institute located in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. It is an Institute of National Importance and one among the 21 IIITs proposed under the non-profit Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model by MHRD. It offers courses in Information and Communication Technology.

Education is a primary focus for Infosys Foundation. Since its inception in 1996, the Infosys Foundation has actively contributed towards women’s empowerment through educational infrastructure, while also working actively in the areas of healthcare, arts and culture, destitute care, hunger eradication and rural development.
