Infosys and Indian Institute for Human Settlements Host Second Edition of BioConserve Summit 2026 to Advance Urban Biodiversity in India

Infosys, in collaboration with the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), India’s national knowledge institution committed to its urban transformation, successfully hosted the second edition of the BioConserve Summit 2026 at the Infosys Bengaluru campus. The Summit convened a diverse group of leaders across industry, urban development, academia, design, technology, and government to showcase practical and scalable approaches for integrating biodiversity into India’s rapidly expanding urban environments.

As India advances toward its national and global conservation targets including the goal of conserving 30% of its land and water as functional ecosystems by 2030, the Summit emphasized that campuses, institutions, and urban systems must become active contributors to ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation. The discussions explored how these everyday spaces can evolve into biodiversity rich ecosystems by leveraging science based planning, resilient design principles, and inclusive community engagement.

Building on the strong momentum of BioConserve 2025, where early adopters demonstrated measurable biodiversity gains across institutional campuses, this year’s edition deepened that dialogue by presenting actionable strategies, tools, and frameworks that institutions can implement immediately. These included improving native species’ habitat connectivity and water stewardship, deploying digital biodiversity monitoring systems for real-time ecological insights, and fostering ecological literacy programs for students, employees, and local communities. Through these exchanges, the Summit reaffirmed India’s campuses and urban spaces as high-potential incubators for nature positive innovation capable of strengthening climate resilience, improving public well being, and advancing national sustainability priorities.
