Topic: Risk-based Monitoring of Clinical Trials
Date: March 26, 2015
Location: National Museum of American History, 14th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20001, US
Session description
Today, life sciences companies need to develop drugs faster and cheaper without compromising on quality. An important cost driver in developing a new drug is the monitoring of trial sites. However, site monitoring has traditionally been an expensive, resource-intensive, and source data verification (SDV) driven process because of concerns associated with protecting human subjects. The life sciences industry has now started looking at it holistically with an objective of quality risk management that includes both onsite and remote monitoring of clinical trials. The intent is to look at data / patterns from previous trials, apply them to the study design, and predict the outcome of new trials. In this roundtable, we will discuss the challenges associated with clinical trials and how companies can perform risk-based monitoring cost-effectively and innovatively.
