Session Details

Topic: When Disaster Strikes: How new Mobility Solutions are Changing the way we Prepare for, Cope with and Recover from Emergencies
Speaker: Jackie Korhonen, CEO, Infosys Australia & New Zealand
Date: August 26, 2011
Time: 12:00 AEST

Session Description
From Japan to New Zealand and here on Australian shores, recent disasters have dominated our headlines and our hearts. That's not new, unfortunately.

What IS new is the nature of the technologies and behaviors that we deploy to respond to those emergencies. Jackie explores the changing face of disaster preparation and recovery. Social media is challenging traditional avenues of crisis response, while solutions originally devised for commercial applications are finding a home in the public sector - and vice versa.

What can disaster response teach us about the next generation of commerce, and how can business harness these new tools?
