Event Overview

The objective of this conference is to provide a venue for the international community including academics, government, NGOs and industry to present, demonstrate and discuss the latest ideas in Services Innovations that are driving the government and industry in delivering the services. This will also provide an opportunity for the community to discuss and debate the state and the evolution of the Services in Emerging Markets.

Session Description

Dr Ajay Kolhatkar and Dr Rajiv Narvekar presented a research paper titled, "A cloud based web accessibility assessment and remediation service offered from an emerging market for the developed economies". This paper presented a case study of a cloud based web accessibility assessment service delivered to large organizations in developed countries in order to meet the increasing demands of B2B and B2C websites of such organizations to be accessible by people with disability.

Ajay also presented a tutorial titled, Why make the World Wide Web accessible. Dr Srinivas Padmanabhuni and Dr Rajiv Narvekar presented a tutorial titled, "Leveraging Technology to Drive Service Innovations in Emerging Economies"

Pradeep Palelli from Infosys' Enterprise Solutions practice presented the findings of the Financial Services Study Group along with Shalini Kapoor from IBM Research Labs.

Dr Rajiv Narvekar was a key member of the program committee, the publication chair and participated in a panel discussion titled "Service Innovation for Emerging Economies". He was also nominated as the Co-Chair for the next conference to be held in September 2011.

Speaker Profiles

Dr. Ajay Kolhatkar

Dr. Ajay Kolhatkar, Research Analyst - Future Web Research Lab, SETLabs. Ajay co-leads the Usability and Accessibility research at the Future Web Research Lab of SETLabs, the corporate R&D Group at Infosys. The lab has developed iProwe, an accessibility assessment product. Ajay has a PhD in technology management from IIT Bombay. His research there focused on "Consumer's Acceptance of Technology Based Services". His present work deals with research in usability and accessibility challenges, particularly in Web 2.0 perspectives. His areas of interest includes, usability of self-service channels, consumer-technology interfaces, web accessibility and Web 2.0 adoption. Ajay has over 16 years of industry experience in project management, business consulting, corporate training and learning solutions and has worked with several leading technology clients at Infosys.

Dr. Srinivas Padmanabhuni

Dr. Srinivas Padmanabhuni leads the Software Engineering research lab at SETLabs. He specializes in Web services, Service-Oriented Architecture, Business Process Management and Grid technologies. He has been selected in the Who's Who in the Asia 2007 first edition and Who's Who in the World 2009 edition. He serves on the editorial board of journals and program committees for several international conferences. He has presented thought papers at international conferences including AAAI, ICWS, SCC, GITMA, APSEC and ISEC. Currently, Dr. Srinivas is the chairperson of the ACM Bangalore chapter.

Dr. Rajiv Narvekar

Dr. Rajiv Narvekar Research Analyst - R&D Planning and Operations, Infosys. Rajiv leads the R&D planning and operations function at SETLabs. His research interests include technology management, technology assessment and forecasting and strategic management of technology. He is currently working on developing technology led business solutions for the emerging economies. Rajiv has about 15 years of experience in new product development, sales and Hi-technology marketing. He was awarded a PhD for his work on R&D and innovation management from IIT Bombay.
