Global payments volumes, already worth around $220 billion, will continue to grow as trade grows, but profit margins for payments providers are likely to shrink. Financial institutions today tend to be too focused on the regulatory issues surrounding international payments, particularly the creation in the European Union of a Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA) and a Single Payments Area. Consequently, they have taken their eye off the main issues - the increasing commoditization of payments products and services, and the drive to improve operational efficiencies.
This session explores the new payments landscape and identifies the main components of a winning strategy.
