Infosys Foundation Champions Healthcare and Rural Development in Karnataka

Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Infosys, has completed three new undertakings in partnership with the State Government of Karnataka and local NGOs as part of its ongoing efforts in areas of healthcare and rural development.

As part of these undertakings, Infosys Foundation has helped in the construction of:

  • The Sri Sharada Devi Eye Hospital and Research Centre at the Swami Vivekananda Integrated Rural Health Centre at Pavagada in Tumkur District, Karnataka. The Foundation completed the stone laying ceremony in December 2018, and has pledged to contribute INR 2.5 Crore to the construction of the facility.
  • An English Medium High School at Shivanahalli for the Ramakrishna Mission in the Anekal Taluk of Bengaluru. The Foundation completed the stone laying ceremony in November 2018, and has pledged to contribute INR 6 Crore to the construction of the school.
  • A toilet block at the Government Pre-University College in Tumkur District, Karnataka. The block was inaugurated in December 2018 and the Foundation contributed INR 23 lakh towards its construction.

Healthcare and rural development have been important focus areas for Infosys Foundation and in its endeavor to foster community healthcare and development across India, the Foundation has previously worked with leading medical institutions such as Kidwai Cancer Institute and AIIMS to further cancer research and aid in patient recovery, and Sankara Eye Hospital and LV Prasad Eye Institute to support the prevention of blindness.
