Infosys-Telstra initiative wins Australian Safer Communities Award

A national emergency warning system developed by Telstra and Infosys for the Victorian office of the Emergency Services Commissioner won the Australian Safer Communities Award. The system enables emergency management agencies to alert residents about bushfires, floods and missing persons, over the phone.

The awards were announced by the Attorney-General for Australia, Robert McClelland.

"These awards are an excellent example of governments, the public, volunteers and the private sector working together to create safer communities," McClelland said.
